Classic joinery
Classic joinery
Classic wood joints without additional fasteners are the very basic methods to connect two pieces of wood, with or without adding glue.Very common joints are bridle, housed, halved, dovetail, mortise and tenon, wedged loose tenon and tongue and groove.
Most classic joints perform best when solid or engineered wood is used rather than MDF or particle board, because these joints use the natural strength of the material as part of the construction.
